Geo Television has been touching sensitive topics in its drama serials for quite some time, capturing the roots of prejudice and those negative labels that instantly stain a woman’s reputation in the society and lead to untold suffering. Geo Television has now added a brand-new sitcom to its weekly showcase!

With Shokhiyan, we’re now looking at the comeback of the good old comedy duo Hina Dilpazeer and Mehmood Aslam. But what else makes this sitcom stand out? This leaves us with the storyline, dialogue delivery, and the structure. 

In an interesting turn of events, life-long enemies Sikander and Gori are forced to live under one roof. While Mehmood Aslam’s character, Sikander, is short-sighted, Hina Dilpazeer’s character, Gori, has difficulty in hearing. 

Sikander lives with his only daughter, Shireen (played by Anum Tanveer), who is in love with Gori’s son Fahad (Ahmed Hassan). Although the two love birds plan to marry, they are unaware of the reason behind their parents’ hatred towards each other.

What’s more to this family-friendly sitcom is the lighthearted conflict between Sikander and Gori as they were engaged to each other in the past but due to some misunderstandings, their wedding was called off. Both Gori and Sikander have successfully withheld the secret from their children. 

Produced under the banner of Production Headquarters, Shokhiyan’s director Rana Rizwan is not new to this genre as he has given the industry many objects of pure comedy. On the other hand, the writer Khurrum Abbas, too, is the man behind many successful Pakistani sitcoms.

We know that those in seek of rib-tickling comedy will surely tune in to catch the premiere on the second day of Eid at 7:30 PM.
